Paradox
Previous boat building project to the well known Matt Layden Paradox design. The picture shows 'Small Fry', in Shark Bay 2014. She awaits the morning tide to float her after having dried out for the night when the tide went out. Shark Bay must have been created with Matt's design in mind, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an exciting wilderness in which to go exploring with an ultra shoal draft sailing boat.
Small Fry visited by a Brahminy Kite (I'm no bird expert, just an educated guess) while cruising the Pelsaert Group in the Abrolhos Islands. The force of the bird taking off was enough to rock Small Fry as much as a sailor moving about on deck.
This oversized utility trailer works as a boat trailer, and can be used for many other things when not launching the boat.
Having ultra shoal draft opens up all kinds of opportunities for anchoring.
and so she has dried out in some slightly odd places at times.
The removable seat doubles as a galley bench. This little camp stove is adequate for simple meals of a hot beverage. Since the bench is directly under the hatch, excess heat and steam does not build up in the cabin.
Below, the paradox provides a cosy environment even when it gets a bit choppy.
This beautiful anchorage at Jurien Bay is open only to very shallow draft boats. So good to cruise in a paradox.
